Wayman L. Garnett, son of the late Bishop Garnett and Dora Catlett, quietly departed this life on Saturday, November 2,2024 at the age of 92.

Wayman was born (September 22, 1932) into a loving family in Lexington, Kentucky. He received his early education in the Kentucky school system and later received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland ‘s Eastern Shore formally known as (Maryland State College).  He later served in the United States Navy.  After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he went on to earn a Jurist Doctorate Degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. He later enjoyed an illustrious career in the Federal Government as a lawyer in the U.S. Treasury Department. He received numerous awards and retired after 30 years of public service.

After retirement, Wayman and his wife, Kia L Garnett, relocated to Sarasota, Florida where he enjoyed the wonderful life of golf, the weather and visiting fine restaurants near the Gulf of Mexico. He returned to D.C. several years ago, and continued to enjoy his retirement years. Reading, traveling, entertaining friends and listening to his expansive music collection of Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand and other Jazz Artists were his pleasures in life.

His greatest joy was his family. Together with his former wife, Kia L. Garnett, they raised a devoted son, Tay Connell Garnett, (MPA) of whom he was most proud.

Wayman is survived by his son, Tay Garnett, a loving daughter-in-law, Wanda Garnett, and only one living relative, Phyllis Catlett, from Lexington, Kentucky and a host of friends in Washington, D.C. and Sarasota, Florida.
