Virginia G. Jones

Mrs. Virginia Gibson Jones passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. She was 92 years old.

Virginia was born in Bristol, Tennessee to Charles and Thelma Gibson on June 8, 1927. She was attending Virginia State College when she met her beloved husband, Lynwood A. Jones, Jr. They were married in 1950, and from this union they were blessed with one son, Lynwood III. After living in Petersberg, Virginia and Frederick, Maryland, Virginia and her family moved to Washington, D.C. where she lived for over 50 years. Virginia ultimately completed her Masters in Social Work at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lynwood A. Jones, Jr. and by her parents, Charles and Thelma Gibson. "Ginny" and Lyn were married for over 65 years before his untimely death in 2015. Her loss of her dear husband was very difficult for her to recover from. For this reason, it is a comfort to her family to know that she has now rejoined him.

Virginia is survived by her son, Dr. Lynwood A. Jones III (Sandra); her two grandsons, Lynwood IV and Jonathan (Shannon); her great-grandchildren, Navy Lyn and Maxwell James; and a host of nieces and nephews. Virginia will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
