Verdelle T. Taylor Obituary

Verdell Thomas Taylor, 101 years old, of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024. She was born on September 1, 1922 to Andrew and Ruth Thomas. Verdelle was predeceased by "her love of her life Herbert Joseph Taylor", her half-brother, Edgar Thomas and parents.


She is survived by her stepdaughter, Joyce M. Hopkins, very dear friend Ludie M. Vanderbilt, LTC, Ret., and many other relatives and friends.


She was known for her military career. Verdelle was commissioned as a 1st LT in the Army's Colored Nurse's Corps in 1945 and retired as a colonel in the Army Nurse Corps in 1975.
