SaVanna KB Wanzer passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, surrounded by her beloved Angel Team. As a fierce advocate of human rights, trans rights, and HIV rights, SaVanna's legacy is rich - filled with the inclusive spaces and campaigns she created that continue to lift spirits and promote justice. As a board member and volunteer leader for Whitman-Walker Health for several decades, her love is felt and celebrated by thousands. She was a community leader who built bridges; she created DC Trans Pride in 2007, and later DC Black Trans Pride, and May Is All About Trans. SaVanna's leadership and love was unmatched as her vision for justice and kindness flowed through all of her endeavors. SaVanna's compassionate and fierce spirit lives on in her friends and her vast community.
