Pierre Andre Philippe, Sr.

Pierre Andre Philippe, Sr., 66 years of age, of Pétion-Ville, Haiti, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Silver Spring, MD following a dreadful battle with Covid-19.

Pierre Andre Philippe, Sr. was born to Marietta and Emile Alfred Philippe on September 17, 1953. He wed Marie Carmel Pierre in 1978 in Port-au-Prince, where they began their family and ultimately emigrated to the United States in 1986. Following Marie’s passing in 2012, Andre remarried Anastasia Florence Joseph in 2016.

A particularly clever student, Andre delighted in the pursuit of knowledge of all kinds and was passionate in both his personal and professional endeavors. He graduated from Ecole Nationale des Arts & Metiers (ENAM) with a degree in Electromechanics. He enjoyed working as an electrical engineer in both Haiti and the US for over 25 years. True to form, he then pursued advanced education in surgical technology and continued to explore his passions until his untimely passing.

Andre was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, friend, and adored leader at the First Evangelical Haitian Church of Silver Spring. 

Andre is preceded in death by his mother, father, and first wife. He is survived by his second wife, Anastasia Florence Philippe; his sister Gina Ganthier; his children Reginald, Patrice and his wife Renata, Pierre Andre Jr. and his wife Nakeshia, Gemima Doris, and Jonathan; his step-children Francoise Glesile and her husband Mansor Kebe, and Ephayolle St. Felix; and his grandchildren Cailyn Elise Philippe, Cameron David Philippe, Addison Marie Philippe, Ava Marie Philippe, Carter Jaxon Philippe; and step-grandchildren Matthew, Anadiouma, Brianna, and Noah; and his extended family of the First Evangelical Haitian Church.

He will be mourned by his nephews and nieces: Daniel, Gregory, Marvin, and Kimberly Ganthier; his sisters- and brothers-in law of the Pierre, Louis Charles, Aldanis and Louis families; and members of the Raymond, Lauture, Calixte, Milord and Auguste families.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has sent their condolences and has kept us in prayer during this difficult time of mourning.

Andre will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity and quick wit. Although we are saddened by his departure, we rejoice in knowing that his suffering is over and he is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
