Peggie Mae (formerly Hamer) Darden, who was a Howard University administrator for decades and alumna too, as well as longtime member of prominent, area social and bridge clubs, and a talented, gracious hostess, died March 28, 2025 in Rockville, Maryland, over four years after she received a diagnosis of dementia.
Her birthplace was the District of Columbia, which is where she lived until her husband died in 2000, after which she moved to Silver Spring, and later Olney, Maryland.
For years a faithful, Nineteenth Street Baptist Church congregant, she was a deeply loved and devoted friend, in-law, cousin, aunt, sister and wife, grandmother and also mother, to Orlando, Jr., and Michael.
