Paul Aloysius Williams, Jr. (“Sarge”)
Paul Jr. was born on May 14, 1933 in Washington, D.C. to the late Lucille Vivian Foster and Paul Williams, Sr. On Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 7:10 p.m., he peacefully departed this life at his home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was the oldest child of eleven siblings who was put to rest at the tender age of 91.
He was raised in DC and attended Wormley Elementary School in Georgetown and went to Armstrong High School in DC. Afterwards, he joined the U.S. Army wherein he was eventually ranked as a First Class Sargent, therefore nicknamed “Sarge”. At Walter Reed, he worked as an executive chef and was a meat cutter apprentice. He stayed very active in his community. He retired from his last job as a Barwood cab driver in 2004. Paul Jr. was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Council #151) for 20+ years. He was known to everyone as “Lil Weeper” and “Sarge”. When he was around, he would always “drop it like it’s hot” until he couldn’t anymore.
He was a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, joyful person who expressed love and positive energy to everyone he encountered. To cherish him in loving memory, he leaves his: four children, Phyllis Johnson, Jessie Leroy, Denise Williams and Tony Williams; two brothers, Michael Williams, Sr. and Joseph Williams; three sisters, Rita Foster, Catherine Powell (James) and Bernadette Mitchell (Robert); four grandchildren, Dennis, Dwayne, David and Derrick “Jay”; two godchildren, Zsa Zsa Williams and Sharon Lyles; seven great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
