A Life Well Lived

Pamila Juanita Allen Midgett lived a vibrant life, bringing joy, energy, and inspiration to everyone who knew her. While her life’s journey ended on Thursday, June 25, 2026, she will be remembered for a remarkable legacy of love for her family, steadfast faith, and service to her community.

Pamila was born on August 21, 1954, at Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, D.C., to the proud parents of Mr. Freddie Allen and the late Maebella Allen. A proud Washingtonian, Pamila was educated in the D.C. public school system, attending Truesdale Elementary and Rabaut Junior High School, before graduating from Calvin Coolidge High School.

From a young age, Pamila possessed a strong work ethic and a desire to serve her community. She was a Girl Scout Brownie and candy striper and spent her summers working for the government. Her professional journey included roles at the DC Superior Court and the Metropolitan Police Department, ultimately culminating in a distinguished career with the Department of Justice (DOJ). True to her  spirit, her retirement from the DOJ was celebrated in style as she walked down a red carpet to a waiting limousine in her fur coat.  The DOJ honored her for the many years of outstanding dedication and service to the agency.

Pamila was a woman of unwavering faith, who loved the Lord and was faithful to him.  She joined St. Stephens Baptist Church early in her life and, subsequently, became a devoted member of the New Southern Rock Baptist Church in 1968. She actively served her congregation as a member of Church Anniversary Committee, Women’s Day Committee, and the New Southern Rock Food Bank.  Her time at the church brought her the immense joy of meeting Brian Midgett, Sr., who is a member.  Though he hesitated at first, recognizing that she was truly an exceptional person, he eventually asked her to the National Harbor for their first date on November 10, 2024. They married over a year later on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025.

She possessed a radiant smile and an endearing personality that effortlessly drew people in. Her zest for life was reflected in her exquisite sense of style, especially her love of chic hats. Whether she was traveling, enjoying a day at the beach, or driving with absolute class in her sleek Mercedes convertible coupe - affectionately named "Liz” - Pamila did so with grace. She was an excellent cook who particularly delighted in treating loved ones to good cuisine, and often indulged in blue crabs. Pamila’s impeccable taste extended into her home, which she renovated beautifully. She loved antique shopping, filling her home with unique finds and furnishing it with designer MacKenzie-Childs pieces.

Pamila was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Maebella Allen, and her grandmother, Daisy King Allen. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Brian Midgett, Sr.; stepson, Brian Midgett, Jr.; father, Freddie Allen; four sisters-in-law - Karen, Jackie, Cassandra, and Nina Midgett; cousins, Mamie Fields, Beverly Fields, Jeannine Royster, Mardell Hines, Sandy Moore, Johnnyette Taylor, and Phyliss Williams; adopted niece, Shana Greenwald; as well as a host of extended cousins, dear friends, church members, and neighbors.

Pamila’s warmth, kindness, and elegant legacy will forever be missed and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
