James Romeo Haynes departed this life on March 23, 2023 surrounded by his family at George Washington University Hospital. Born in Cairo, Illinois, he was the younger of two children. He graduated cum laude from Fisk University where he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He received his Master's in Economics from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctorate from George Washington School of Law.
He is survived by his wife, Lynnette Hairston Haynes, two children, Ashley and Jonathan, in-laws, Henry and Elizabeth Hairston, three sisters-in-law, Donna Mickens (Ben), Pamela Sadler (Blaine), and Angela Wilson (Amos), one brother-in-law, Wayne Hairston, nieces, nephews and cousins.
