Harold Munroe Miller, Sr. was born in Barbican, St. Andrew, Jamaica on November 14, 1937 to the late Gertrude and Charles Miller. He was one of five siblings.
Harold attended Providence Technical School in Kingston, Jamaica where he studied automotive technology and typewriter restoration. Upon graduation, he landed his first job with Donald Davidson & Company as an automotive technician. He had a passion for sports cars; especially the 5 speed Fiat. He loved repairing and sprucing up his cars which was like therapy for him. Eventually, he landed a job with Sheibler and Company as a Typewriter Technician. In this position, he traveled extensively throughout the Cayman Islands and Chicago, Illinois.
He met his wife Winnifred Bennett as a teenager at the Blue Mountain resort, in Jamaica. They courted for two years and began a loving marriage which spanned over 60 years of complete devotion. Harold was charismatic, compassionate and hardworking. He loved to dress up, specifically in suits.
Together, Harold and Winnifred raised four children: two daughters, Lorna and Sandrea, and two sons Harold Jr. and Roger.
In 1978, Harold migrated to the United States. He worked for a few years at the North Office Machines in Washington, D.C. and eventually left to start his own business - Maryland Typewriter and Office Machines. His business thrived until the development of modern technology. He tried to match the pace of computer technology but the demand was too much for him to handle. So, he closed the business and went to work for Volunteers of America. In 2018, he officially retired and his favorite pass time was spending time with his wife. To whom he loved unconditionally. Their favorite hang-out spot was the Olive Garden and IHOP. He loved watching Family Feud, The Price Is Right, Cops, Unsolved Mystery and the latest news stories on CNN, MSNBC and FOX. Harold loved long distance driving and would drive to various states including Ohio, Georgia, New York, South Carolina and North Carolina for family events. He loved road trips so much that he talked about purchasing a Recreational Vehicle (RV).
On Thursday, April 8, 2021, Harold departed this life peacefully. We are grateful to God for his life and the many memories shared through his presence in our lives.
