George Lightfoot III Obituary

George Morton Lightfoot III was born on September 18, 1950, in Washington, D.C. He was the third and youngest child of Juanita Shannon (Lightfoot) Suggs and George Morton Lightfoot, Jr. During his youth, George enjoyed bike riding, movies, baseball, ping-pong, and family trips. He regularly worshipped at Berean Baptist Church. George was a boy scout and attended an International Boy Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge, PA.

A life-long D.C. resident, George attended D.C. Public Schools. At age 18, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked for 39 years, retiring as a Lithographic Assistant in 2007. He loved his job and received special recognition performance awards throughout his career.

After retiring, George liked to read and watch classic TV shows. He enjoyed sitting on the porch and talking to neighbors and family. He had a beautiful smile, loved to laugh, and joke, and appreciated the simple things in life.

George was preceded in death by his father, George Jr., mother, Juanita, brother, Michael, sister, Deborah, and nephew Richard E. Walker.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his aunt, Dorothy Pugh; siblings, Carol Lightfoot Walker, Diana Botts, David Suggs, Darlene Campbell (James), Denise Suggs, Donna Suggs and Edward Suggs; nieces and nephews, Nicole, Crystal, Jimmy, Kyndal, Kalem and Carla; great-nieces and nephew; Tatianna, Richard, Ryan, Tyla, Jaelin, and Alexis; great-great nephews, Khaliq and Ryland; life-long friend, Larry Dove and host of other relatives and friends.
