Garfield Alston, of Kettering, MD, peacefully passed away from a massive stroke at the age of 91. He was born May 1, 1929 in High Point, North Carolina to Aaron and Irene Alston. After serving in the United States Military during the Korean War, he moved to Washington, DC. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather. He owned and operated service stations in the DMV for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Alston; four children, Sheila Kneeshaw, Lynette Carter, Michael Alston and Jacqueline Thompson (Derrick); 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Garland Alston; sister, Mildred Beck and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
