Eugene R. Banks Obituary

Eugene Ray Banks, peacefully passed away on January 13, 2024, in his home in Washington, DC, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Born on October 27, 1951, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late Hayes B. Banks and Roberta J. Banks, Eugene was the 5th of six children. Two of them preceding him in death: his brother, Lt Colonel Hayes (Sonny) B. Banks, and the Honorable Harold B. Banks.


Gene had the ability to touch the hearts of all who had the privilege of calling him family or friend.  He is survived by his loving wife, Twyla G.Johnson Banks, and their children, son, Eugene H. Banks (Vecoya), and daughter, Chara J. Banks; two grandchildren Eugene H. Banks, Jr. and Zorah M. Banks. He is also survived by his sister Joyce B. Douglas (Donald), two brothers, James W. Banks (Deloris), and Ernie R. Banks, DDS; sister in-law Kasandrea (Kay) Banks, and a kinship of cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews, other dear family, and friends; HU Bison Family, Omega Brothers, Delta Sisters,  Diamond Hill & Gethsemane Church Families.


In his passing, may we find solace in the beautiful legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, laughter, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship.
