Esther Marie Terrell Obituary

Esther Marie Terrell transitioned peacefully on January 11, 2025. Born on February 19, 1931, in Sterling, Virginia, to the late Mable F. Baylor and Lee Edward Paige, Sr., she was the second of nine children.

In 1948, she moved to Washington, DC, where she joined John Louis Terrell in holy matrimony. Together, they raised four children: Janice McDuffie, William Terrell (Pamela), Anthony B. Paige (Faye), and her beloved youngest daughter, Kaywana Wright, who preceded her in death. Their union of 42 years was filled with love, faith, and dedication to family.

A devoted Christian woman, Marie welcomed family and friends into her home with love and hospitality. Known as the Matriarch of "S" Street, her legacy of love, faith, and perseverance lives on through the generations she inspired.

In addition to her daughter and sons, she leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Shelia Compton and Laverne Berry; a brother, George Paige, Sr.; fourteen grandchildren: Eugene McDuffie (Shannon), Rochelle Peters (James), Tanya Coleman (Jody), Kevin Terrell, Keith McDuffie (Atoya), the late Brian Terrell, Kiauna Terrell, Kristen McDuffie, Kandace McDuffie (Leesa), Sean McDuffie (Brooke), Brendan Wright, Trevor Wright, Jamal Paige and Alexandra Paige; thirty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
