Ernest Kelly Obituary

Ernest Anthony Kelly was born on September 6, 1954 in Denver, Colorado to Ernest Lee and Jeannette Kelly. He was one of six children, their first child and only son.

Anthony attended Phoenixville Senior High School where he was an excellent student and athlete. He was popular and had many friends and acquaintances. Upon graduation he was awarded a full athletic wrestling scholarship to Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). In 1974, while in college, he was involved in a tragic car accident where he was critically injured. With the love of God, prayers and support of his loving family, he recovered. After a long recovery, he returned to college but because of the severity of his head injury, he was unable to fulfill his academic and athletic obligations to receive his degree. He attempted other courses of study, but left college and returned home to work on several jobs in the construction field.

Anthony joined Bethel Baptist Church in Phoenixville, PA and accepted Christ at an early age. He also attended Unity Church at Penn State. He later rededicated his life to Christ and occasionally attended Takoma Park Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the years, Anthony enjoyed watching sports, news, westerns. He loved to attend family gatherings and the annual Moorman, Price, Robinson family reunion. He never married or had children of his own but adored his nieces and nephews. He was loved dearly by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

On the afternoon of May 19, 2020, Ernest Anthony Kelly departed this life peacefully with his family gathered around him at his residence in Northwest, Washington, D.C.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lee Kelly and nephew, Erik Anthony Kelly. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his loving mother, Jeannette Kelly; and five sisters, Mary Deborah Watts (Antonio), Cheryl Kelly Touya (Raymond), Karen Lalani Kelly, Jacquelyn Kelly Marshall (Troy), and Jeanette Kimayne Kelly; nieces and nephews, Quanda Harrell (George), Ernest Lee Willoby, Rackeal Harris, Lalani Stevens, Stephen Kelly, Tiara Marshall, Terrence Kelly, Jahmil Kelly, Jazmine Marshall, Raymond Touya and Kianna Kelly Futch; great nieces and nephews, George, Joshua and Autumn Harrell, and Elijah, Elanah, and Emani Willoby, and Ty’Jae and Tara’Jae Marshall and a host of other relatives and friends.
