Enoch D. Mixon was born in Early Branch, SC on June 9, 1925. He was the second to the youngest child of the late Mattie and Charlie Mixon. He was a graduate of Wilkinson High School, South Carolina State University (B.S. Biology-1950), and Temple University, (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine-1959).

Enoch moved to Washington, D.C. in 1945 and was a proud resident of the city. He practiced as a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery for 35 years beginning in 1960. He maintained private practice for 30 years and worked part-time at the DC Department of Public Health from 1965-1978 and the Department of Veterans Affairs from 1978-1995.

During his career, Dr. Mixon was instrumental in training podiatry externs at the VA medical center in Washington, DC. He was an adjunct professor at New York College of Podiatric Medicine, a member of the DC Board of Podiatry Examiners, the National Board of Podiatric Examiners, and a founding member of the National Podiatry Association.

In addition to his wife of 62 years Emma, Enoch leaves to mourn his son, Everett (Juanda), his daughter, Elaina Dalton (Thomas), his granddaughter, Madison, one sister-in-law, Velma F. Berry, 4 nephews, 4 nieces, many great and grand nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
