It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Drucille Hutchinson Stafford, a beloved daughter, sister,  cousin, educator, innovator and friend, who departed this world on November 14, 2024 after a prolonged illness.She was born December 2 , 1938 a third generation Washingtonian who had a passion for the field of Education and obtained her BS from  DC Teachers College, Masters in Education from the University of Miami and a doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During her illustrious career as an educator she was a principal in the Montgomery County Public Schools , served as a Professional Development Director for Light Span and as CEO of Stafford and Associates Consulting. She also served as Chair of the National Alliance of Black School Educators  Foundation demonstrating her commitment to fostering educational excellence and nurturing the minds of colleagues and students  . She was involved in numerous organizations over the years including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , the DAMES social group , the National Alliance of Black School Educators  and Black Ski. Dr. Stafford or "Dru" as she was affectionately known by most was an avid world traveler who also loved art and was drawn to people who shared these interests. She enjoyed spending time in St. Thomas where she once served as the VP of Secret Harbor Resorts . Her adventurous , generous and kind spirit and love for  bringing people together  made her a cherished friend and mentor to many . She considered many of her friends like "family" .


Dr. Stafford was preceded in death by her mother Ms. Eleise Murray Hutchinson Moore, her father Edward Hutchinson Sr. and her brother Edward Hutchinson Jr. She is survived by her step father Mr. Thomas Moore , her cousins Duane Taylor (Hermalene) and Arlee Taylor, her godchildren Wesley, Melanie and Lisa and a close family friend Mr. Alvin Jones who was like a brother to her and remained supportive as she navigated her many health challenges .


"Dru's" legacy of kindness, generosity,compassion, leadership, excellence  and knowing how to "live life to the fullest"spanned many decades, impacted many people and will forever be etched in the hearts of all that knew her.  A memorial service to celebrate her life and accomplishments will be held at a later date to be determined.
