Delphine M. Roberts

Delphine (Del) Martha Roberts, was born on April 7, 1948 to the late Clyde and Burene McIntyre in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was educated in the Rutherford Public Schools system where she graduated from Carver High School in 1968. She continued her education at the Durham Business College where she majored in business. She later moved to Washington, DC where she met and married Shelton Daniel Roberts in June 1970. Their union produced a daughter, Stefanie Michelle.

Del started her work career at the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County as a Housing Specialist and later moving on to the Prince George's County Maryland Energy Program where she worked as an Energy Assistant Specialist before retiring in 2017.

For the past 30 years she was an active member of St. Mark's Baptist Church under the previous leadership of the late Rev. Wilborn Gilmore and the present leadership of Pastor Raymond T. Matthews. She served on the Usher Board and she was an assistant with Boy Scout Troop #398.

Del has always been known to be a hard worker, a perfect hostess, and always willing to freely give her time to help anyone that needed help at the drop of a hat. Her interests included: tending to her vegetable garden where she grew various tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, collard greens, green beans, and zucchini. She also enjoyed planting flowers and going to the farmer’s market. Her favorite TV shows were QVC, and all the courtroom shows, especially Judge Judy.

She passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 10. She leaves behind her daughter, Stefanie Roberts; her brother, James Augusta McIntyre; her nieces, Paula McIntyre and Linda Valentine; and her nephews, Leroy Gibbs, Joel McIntyre, and Kevin McIntyre. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Diego, and her bird, Earl.
