Delores Mounsey passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 from heart failure. Delores touched and impacted many lives through her life-long focus on higher education.
Delores was born in Washington, DC, the middle daughter of Frank E. Mounsey and Ethel L. Nixon. Delores graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. She had a 40 year career at Howard University ultimately being named Vice Dean for the School of Allied Heath. Her advocacy for health education was exemplary, as she secured and managed numerous grants to provide career opportunities in health and allied health to Howard students.
Delores is survived by her sister Mera Mounsey Archambeau and brother-in-law Lester Milward Archambeau II; nieces Shellye Archambeau, Lindy Archambeau, and Niki Archambeau Brown (Allen Brown) and nephew Lester Milward Archambeau III (Kathleen Archambeau) and a host of grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephew and god children.
Services will be held October 24, 2022, 10 a.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church, 820 Sixth St. NE, Washington, DC.
