Daniel R. Acker, Jr. Obituary

Daniel R. Acker, Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and community member, died on December 22, 2024 at Washington Hospital Center. Born July 26, 1945 in Cleveland, OH, he grew up in Buffalo, NY. He received a B.A. in History from Howard University. He married Fay Allen in 1969 and they had three children, Daniel, Juliette, and Camille. He worked in housing and urban development for the District of Columbia and Maryland. An Elder, Deacon, and longtime member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, he was also an active member of ASALH (Association for the Study of African American Life and History).


A passionate man who loved history, books, film, and politics, he is survived by his wife, Fay, Daniel (Susan Banks Acker), Juliette (Clyde Steptoe), Camille (James Britt), his sisters Carolyn Ball, Nannette Clark (John McDaniel), and a host of other relatives and friends.
