Cheryl Kelly Obituary

On Wednesday evening, August 26, 2020, Cheryl Dorain Kelly, loving mother of Darius Kelly and Raymond Touya, and daughter of the late Ernest Lee Kelly and Jeannette Kelly, departed this life at the age of 63 from her residence in Northwest, Washington, DC.

Cheryl was born on January 26, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1976 in Washington, DC. She served in the U.S. Army in 1978 and was stationed in Baumholder, Germany as a Supply Specialist. In 1995, she married Raymond Touya and raised two sons.

Cheryl was a very loving, compassionate and private person. She loved music and hanging out with close friends and family. Cheryl enjoyed going to amusement parks and to the beach. She also enjoyed going to the racetrack and playing the lottery.

Cheryl loved children, especially infants and toddlers. She was employed at several child development centers. She was a caregiver for her young nieces and nephews in their formative years of which her sisters are grateful. She also worked with elderly patients in nursing homes. One of her last employers was Giant Foods where she worked in the food preparation department. She was so careful and precise in preparing and displaying the salad bar.

Cheryl joined Bethel Baptist Church in Phoenixville, PA where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. During her adult life, she attended Evangel Temple and Takoma Park Baptist Church in Washington, DC.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Lee Kelly; brother, Ernest Anthony Kelly; and nephew, Erik Anthony Kelly. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her two sons, Darius and Raymond; her loving mother, Jeannette Kelly; four sisters, Mary Deborah Watts (Antonio), Karen Lalani Kelly, Jacquelyn Kelly Marshall (Troy) and Jeanette (Kimmy) Kelly; nieces and nephews, Quanda Harrell (George), Ernest Lee Willoby, Rackeal Harris, Lalani Stevens, Stephen Kelly, Tiara Marshall, Terrence Kelly, Jahmil Kelly, Jazmine Marshall and Kianna Kelly-Futch; great nieces and nephews, George, Joshua and Autumn Harrell, and Elanah, Elijah and Emani Willoby, and Ty’Jae and Tara’Jae Marshall; and a host of other relatives and friends.
