Elder Barbara Newton Purdie, 76, was called home on October 18, 2022, at home with her family. Barbara’s greatest joys were sharing love and time with her family and friends.
Barbara was a strong woman of faith who believed in the value of education. She was a member of New Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church in Northheast Washington, DC for many years and served as a Trustee, Trustee chair, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Chairperson, Director of Christian Education, and as an Elder. Barbara was also a retired educator from Montgomery County Public Schools where she made a strong impact on lives of many students. Many who kept in touch with her over the years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Newton and father, Charles Newton brother, James and 2 sisters, Myrtle and Collette. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Roy, sons Roy (Deonna) and Terrence (Debyn), grandchildren, Michael, Michaela, Zoe, Jonathan and Andrew, siblings Marjorie, Lenora, Wille and Cre and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
