Anthony (Tony) Cylde Chase Sr. departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the presence of his loving family. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Tony was born on February 17, 1962, in Huntingtown, Maryland, to the parents of Clyde J. Chase and the late Betty Ann Fletcher. Tony was raised on a tobacco farm with his six siblings in Calvert County, Maryland. As a youth, he and his siblings enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and swimming off the Patuxent River, steps from their grandparent's home.
Tony and his family relocated to Oxon Hill, Maryland, in his teens. He attended and graduated from Oxon Hill High School. After graduation, Tony worked alongside his father as a maintenance engineer and quickly mastered several skills, but plumbing was one that he took the most interest in. He landed his first plumbing job with John C. Dorsey. Tony worked there for a few years before his colleague, Chris Haynes, started his own plumbing company (Haynes Plumbing) and recruited Tony. Tony was an exceptional plumber. The customers loved him. He supervised and trained many employees who became master plumbers. Tony worked for Haynes Plumbing for over 30 years.
Tony's love for his family was profound. He adored his first son, Anthony Clyde Chase Jr., from a previous marriage. Tony found love again and met the love of his life, Kimberley (Kim) Yolanda Chase, while on a plumbing call for Kim’s mother. There was an instant attraction, and Tony often joked that he knew from their first encounter that Kim would be his future wife. Kim and Tony married on April 2, 2005, and started their life together in Bowie, Maryland. Together, they welcomed a second son, Devon Michael Chase, whose arrival brought immense joy and happiness into their lives. Tony was a proud father. He enjoyed spending time with Tony, Jr, and Devon. He loved his sons and wanted the best for them.
Tony cherished every opportunity to gather with loved ones during significant events such as birthdays, family reunions, and major holidays. He particularly relished the company of his grandchildren - Ayanna, Daisaun, Ameriah, and Tailiyah. Tony's favorite pastime was fantasy league football, rooting for the Washington Commanders and sharing the music of his favorite artist, Michael Jackson, with those closest to him. The one thing Tony treasured the most was spending time with Kim. Whether it was date night or relaxing at home, he was happy in her presence.
Tony, a man of remarkable stature and an even bigger heart, found peace and tranquility in life's simplest joys. His unwavering devotion to his family and faith defined his existence. As a valued member of Israel CME Church, he selflessly served as a trustee and lent his voice to the men's choir, embodying his deep commitment to the community. Tony was a man’s man. He could fit into any crowd and talk to anyone with ease. He was dependable and loyal to his family, church, and friends. We will miss him deeply.
