It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alyce Femister Gaither. She passed away June 30, 2026. Born on May 27, 1935, in Washington, D.C., Alyce was the beloved mother of Charles Gaither, Jr. (Megan) and Maia Alees Gaither.
Alyce is also survived by her siblings, Carolyn Dowdle, Howard Contee Jr., David Contee, and Daniel Contee; her grandchildren Ava Rose Walton, William "BeBe" Walton IV; and special niece Nicole Cooper. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Charles Gaither, Sr.; and her grandson, Charles "Chase" Gaither III; her parents Leroy Femister and Syrene Contee; and sister Greta "Bunny" Contee Dickelson.
An announcement regarding her memorial service will be forthcoming. Alyce will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
