Alvin was born on August 26, 1961, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to Alvin Russell Walls Sr. and Joan Ella Shorter. He was the eldest of two children and grew up alongside his younger brother, Ronald Walls Sr. In 1969, the family relocated to Washington, D.C.
Alvin graduated from McKinley Senior High School in 1979. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving with the 82nd Airborne Division as a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist and Combat Signaler. Following his honorable separation from the military, he attended Capital Commitment Technical School, where he completed his training. Alvin spent the majority of his professional career as a federal government contractor, working as a Telecommunications Technician until his retirement in 2024.
In 1995, Alvin united in marriage with the love of his life, Darlene Cecelia Walls. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Kaitlyn and Kiara Walls. Alvin and Darlene shared 30 years of marriage until his passing.
Alvin found great joy in spending time with his family and friends, as well as with the family cat, Lily. He had a deep appreciation for old-school music, especially artists like Luther Vandross and Marvin Gaye. He enjoyed watching classic television shows such as Sanford and Son, Gunsmoke, and The Andy Griffith Show, and he never missed cheering on the Washington Commanders during football season.
Alvin was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Russell Walls, Sr. (Mary), and his mother, Joan Ella Shorter (John). He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Darlene Walls; his beloved daughters, Kaitlyn (Travis) and Kiara Walls; his brother, Ronald Walls Sr. (Melody); his nephews, Ronald Jr., Trenton (Christy), and Gannon; his infant niece, Zadie; his great-nephews, Aston and Logan; his brother-in-law, Gordon (Amanda); his sisters-in-law, Theresa (Andre) and Felicia (Jerry); his nieces and nephews, Darrell (Tengi), Jordan, Joelle, and Jonathan; his great-niece, Zhara; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Alvin will be remembered for his humor, kindness, unmistakable booming voice, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
