Rodger Brown Obituary


 

Rodger Lynwood Brown, Sr., 91, was a long-time resident of Washington, DC, who passed away at The Anne Arundel Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born in Charles City, VA, Rodger served in the US Army in the Korean War. Rodger graduated from Virginia State University, where he met and married Jourdinia (Smith) Brown in 1952. A son, Rodger Jr. was born in 1955. The young family moved to Washington, DC in 1957, where a daughter Rogee Yvette, was born in 1962. Rodger worked for NIH in Bethesda, MD and for the DC government before pursuing a position as a Graphics Art teacher in Prince Georges School System. Rodger was an active member of Takoma Park Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 65 years, Jourdinia (Smith) Brown; his son, Rodger (Susanne) Brown; his daughter, Rogee (Tony) Mosley; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis (Marge) Brown; one sister, Helen Brewer; other relatives and friends.
