Rickey Thompson

Mr. Rickey Thompson, son of Sara Bell-Coley and the late Simon Thompson, was born on December 17, 1955 in Hampton, Virginia. On May 7, 2019, he quietly entered into eternal rest to dwell with those who had gone before him.

Rickey attended Wayne County Public Schools and graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1974. He began working at the National Institute of Health (NIH) on October 1, 1979 and retired April 30, 2019.
Rickey was married to the late Mary Davis, and had one daughter, the late Detisha Council. He served as a father figure for many to include the Heckstall Family (Marcus, Darrick, Devonte, Latasha), Tamia Lomack and grandkids Dallas Curenton and Corey Bullock.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2018.
One of Rickey’s favorite pastimes was playing Pinochle with his friends and bowling on the Wii.

Tender memories will forever prevail with his loving mother, Sara Bell-Coley and his seven (7) loving siblings, Joyce Sampson (Gerald), David Thompson (Cecelia), Cleo Henderson (Frank), Mable Bell, Ronzel Bell, Jeanette James (Jasper), Sherry Hudson (Michael); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
