Elizabeth A. Abramowitz died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home in Potomac, MD. She was born in Berkeley, CA, to the late Leo and Esther Lee Higgs.
After earning a Ph.D., she continued what became a long, successful career as a psychologist-scholar-activist-entrepreneur in education, health and mental health care, foster care and other social services, business, politics and public policy, and public service and civic participation, with an impact both local and national.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Michael Abramowitz of Potomac, MD; four sisters, Mary Augustine of Oakland, CA; Leola "Roscoe" Dellums of Washington, DC; Rosa Higgs of Berkeley, CA; and Emma Higgs of Jamestown, NC; one sister-in-law, Karen Abramowitz of Lebanon, OR; and many other relatives and friends.
