Charmaine Davis Obituary

Charmaine Davis, 56 years old and resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on Good Friday, April 19, 2019 at Johns Hopkins Hospital of a very rare condition called Amyloidosis. Charmaine was born March 5, 1963 in Beaumont, Texas to James and Inez Davis. The third of four daughters, she was also a twin and always referred to herself as the favorite daughter, as well as the favorite sister, and later the favorite aunt.

Charmaine graduated from Provine High School in Jackson, MS in 1981, and she received her BA in Business Information Systems from Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS in 1985.

Charmaine was an Information Technology Professional with over 30 years experience delivering Enterprise Data Management solutions, including the development of effective processes, policies, strategies, and communications to support enterprise data initiatives. She has been employed by several organizations, including EDS and Price Waterhouse, and contracted with the Department of Education, NASDAQ, HUD, the IRS, and most recently the Department of Homeland Security. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to remain an independent contractor rather than salaried employee, which led to a featured article in Black Enterprise Magazine. Due to a military childhood and various jobs, Charmaine has lived in Texas, South Carolina, Kansas, Mississippi, Georgia, and Maryland.

An interest in running and fitness led Charmaine to start a private business, Mirror Image Fitness and Wellness LLC with her twin sister Elaine. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Charmaine was famous for her football parties. Although disciplined, pragmatic, and determined, she also had a passion for life and laughter and a sincere desire to encourage others to reach their full potential.

Charmaine is predeceased by her father James (Jim) Davis. She is survived by her mother Inez Davis; her sisters Debra Butts and husband Jim, Bronwyn Davis, and Elaine Davis; her nephew and nieces Ashley Stewart and husband Derek Mikell, Joshua Butts and wife Briahna, and Erin Butts; great-nephew Marley Mikell; and many friends who will miss her dearly.

In leiu of flowers or other gifts, the family is asking that you consider helping spread awareness and quicker diagnosis of Amyloidosis by donating to the Amyloidosis Foundation.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk besides us everyday.

Unseen, unheard but always near,

Still loved, Still missed, and held so dear.”
