Walter P. Diggs

Walter Preston Diggs of Washington, DC, passed away on February 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Walter, fondly called Preston by family, was born to Edgar and Mary Diggs on September 27, 1928, in Wilson, North Carolina. Walter was an energetic and innovative thinker with countless talents. He was an accountant, musician, painter, builder, jeweler, traveler, gardener, boater, financial planner, investor, and collector. Walter graduated with his bachelor's degree from North Carolina Central in 1951, and Master of Science in 1958. He served in the U.S Air Force for four years and retired from the Federal Government to enjoy a happy retirement.

Walter Preston Diggs held many roles in life, yet his favorite role was being a husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Walter was a generous and steady head of the family.

Walter is survived by his devoted wife, Thelma; two daughters, Brenda and Sheila; and three granddaughters, Jasmine, Alexandra, and Shannon.
