Juanita Glover Obituary

On Tuesday March 6, 2024, Juanita G. Glover transitioned peacefully at her home. Born the second of twelve children on June 28, 1937, in Washington DC. Preceding her in death, were her parents Lofton H. Lee Sr. and Mildred Lee, her husband of forty-four years Charles Glover Jr., sisters Constance Lee, Delores Thorne, brothers Joseph, Reginald, Lofton Jr., William Lee and daughter Jeanette D. Glover.

Juanita confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age, baptized at First Baptist Church of Marshall Heights. As an adult she became a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church and later The Greater Light Missionary Baptist Church.

Juanita graduated from Martha T. Washington a DC Public School, with a license in cosmetology. She entered the workforce in 1955 as a hair stylist where she continued until she married and started her family. Juanita worked for the Federal Government, she retired from the Government Printing Office after 30 years of service.

For many years she was actively engaged in the community and the church. She worked for the Police Boys and Girls Club, volunteered with the DC Pioneers Youth Sports Club and the Woodridge Warriors. She enjoyed directing plays in the church, originally just with the children and ultimately encouraging the adults to take part. She loved sewing, puzzling and reality TV. For 44 years Juanita hosted Christmas Eve celebrations at her home for family and friends. The celebration started mid day and lasted all night.

Juanita was blessed with a family that cared. Her daughter became her "personal assistant and driver". The grand and great-grandchildren provided unlimited aroundthe-clock care. Thank God for her care team of Pamela, Shirleeta, Antonio, Taylor, Kenneth, Juanivia and Rashaad. They were there when everyone went home. They were there when she would say "I don't really want anything" she didn't want to be alone. They were there honoring her every request. They where at her side giving their best. The entire family loved on her too, this was her personal care team, her family, her crew. They were there when God called her to rest. For each one of you she was truly Blessed.

She is survived by her children Charles(Valerie), Pamela A Glover, Keith (Wendy), Yolanda Campbell (Roderick), Tracey E. Glover. Shirleeta and Kenneth Glover were the first of 19 grandchildren, 28 great grand and 2 great great grand. Also cherishing her memories are siblings Martha Morgan (Sammuel), Wilhemina Mathews, Stanley Lee (Quinn) Michael Lee (Verlin) Brenda Hemingway and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and her lifelong friends Violet Stevenson, Veronica Rogers and Ronald Woodson.
